President’s Message 10th of February 2022

Today is the 10th of February 2022 and the Biostatistics Consortium has completed two years of existence. Congratulations!!!

I am grateful to the Trustees and Members for reposing faith and for their contribution to this organization. Despite teething problems, we have been able to organize three webinars during this period.We also celebrated National Statistics Day on June 29, 2021, with the theme ‘Transparent and Quality Data Can Save Lives’.Thanks to all founder members and special thanks to Dr Gayatri Vishwakarma for her proactive role in organizing these webinars and all the other activities.

Our commitment to improve quality of medical research through appropriate use of biostatistics principles and methods remains firm and we look forward to your continued support in our endeavors.

Biostatistics Consortium Presents Webinar On Sample Size Determination in Medical Research

December 16-19, 2021
4 pm to 6 pm

This webinar will cover the methods and formulas to determine sample size for various situations and different parameters, including estimation where margin of error is specified and testing of hypothesis where power is specified. This can help in writing a valid protocol as well (+for sample size paragraph in a medical research article.

Learning Objectives
  • To understand the difference between estimation and testing of hypothesis setups;
  • To understand which formula to be used where;
  • To be able to calculate sample size for different setups.
